Top 15 Emo/Punk Albums, October 2013

With the remaining feedback of the Vans Warped Tour and Riot Fest still ringing faintly in our ears, it's time to shift the focus to fall emo and punk releases. This past month was marked by an equal split between established acts and up-and-comers: In one corner, you've got genre heavyweights Saves the Day, The Devil Wears Prada and Avenged Sevenfold releasing some of the best music of their already acclaimed careers; in the other, you've got acts like Veara tearing through exuberant, adolescent pop-punk anthems and Dashboard Confessional singer Chris Carrabba stepping out with Twin Forks, his brand-new group.

Don't forget about post-hardcore acts Touché Amoré and Balance and Composure, who make a push to land on end-of-year lists with a pair of stunning, forward-thinking albums. Elsewhere, you'll find Aussie pop-punkers Tonight Alive channeling Paramore's Riot on their new disc, The Other Side; Minus the Bear stripping things down for Acoustics II; and DC-area reggae-rock act RDGLDGRN enlisting the help of Pharrell, of all people, for their debut full-length.
