Jerry Finn's Pop-Punk Legacy

About this playlist

In August 2008, the rock world felt a shock when producer Jerry Finn unexpectedly passed away at the age of 39 after a brain hemorrhage. Finn was best known for his role as the unofficial fourth member of Blink-182 (he worked on nearly everything the band released since the mainstream smash Enema of the State), but his big break actually came when he mixed Green Day's iconic major-label debut, Dookie, in 1994. After Blink broke big, Finn became one of the most in-demand producers in rock, guiding albums and singles for Rancid, AFI, Sum 41, The Offspring and more. But perhaps the greatest feather in Finn's cap -- and true indictor of his talent -- was his repeated work with Morrissey, the oft-contrarian singer whose 2009 album, Years of Refusal, was the last Finn ever completed.
