Five For Fighting's Favorites

About this playlist

We've all heard about the creative dry spell, but when you make your living writing it can have serious, mind-wrecking consequences. Such was the case for Five for Fighting's John Ondrasik, who hit such a lull after releasing 2009's [Slice]. Despite a decade's worth of hits, including giants such as "Superman (It's Not Easy)" and "100 Years," Ondrasik realized he needed to find a reason to start writing again. He needed to be inspired; he needed a muse. And he found it in a most unlikely place: training for his first marathon.

It's fitting, then, that the singer-songwriter created a playlist of running songs for us. Consider these (mostly) classic rock nuggets blasts of inspiration. Of the mix he says, "In training for my first marathon last year I fell in love with music all over again. From The Who to Seals & Crofts to the Bee Gees, I relived my childhood discovery of great bands and songwriters. Here are some of the songs that helped me to the finish line."
