Shame And Fortune
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs test fans' devotion on It's Blitz, steeping their gritty guitar rock in electro waters. Jittery synths and strobe-light beats have Karen O's sexy rock goddess status pumped up a notch, making her flirty appeals even more enticing. "Zero" and "Heads Will Roll" open the album with gusto, but like all nights of partying your pain away, the need to "dance 'til you're dead" quickly fades. The album moves into darker territory as new wave rhythms retreat into dissonant drones and some of the band's finest balladry is uncovered: "Skeletons," "Runaway," "Little Shadow."
