Mobile of Angels
Label: Profound Lore
Both Uta Plotkin's goddess wail and Rob Wrong's guitar repeatedly crash toward blues-fed classic rock on this Oregon acid-doom band's third album, and epic dirges ensue -- the first three well over eight minutes long. Opener "Psycho Animundi" turns verbosely rhymed beat-poetry claustrophobic after a gong's slammed; "Can't Settle" turns high Grace Slick notes feral after a Rosemary's Baby reference. "Your Corrupt Ways" gets soulfully vicious at a control freak, while mystic-organed "Mobile of Angels" earns its swirling title and "The Shape Truth Takes" brings things to an almost gothic close.
