About Will Calhoun
As the drummer for Living Colour, Calhoun played a large part in helping the band earn Grammies and the respect of their peers, if not the money and widespread recognition they deserved. On his solo projects he pushes stylistic boundaries, gathering influences from Africa, Australia and Asia and injecting them into his unique blend of acoustic and sampled drums. Some of his recordings have a traditional Worldbeat sound, while his more experimental works carry a fast, energetic Jungle feel that's all the more impressive because it's evident a human being is actually playing the ridiculously fast beats. His talents aren't limited to percussion and drums, however: Calhoun is an accomplished arranger, songwriter and pianist, evident on his live piano versions of "Nothingness," which he wrote for Living Colour's Stain.
