Released:
Label: ATO Records (AT0)
Not released until 2010, Live in the Classic City II was recorded all the way back in the spring of 2000, before a hometown audience at Athens, Ga.'s Classic Center Theater. For longtime fans this is a bittersweet recording, as Michael Houser, whom pancreatic cancer claimed in 2002, can be heard slaying it on guitar. There is some tough-as-nails Southern rock on this album. On four of the 16 tracks, the Panic's dense and gnarled jamming pierces the 10-minute mark. Anybody who thinks these dudes are lazy noodlers needs to get the cotton out of their ears and crank "Barstools" right now!
