Waking Into Nightmares
Label: Century Media
Bay Area thrash-worshipping revivalists may be a dime a dozen, but how many of those artists can snatch Exodus axe-man Gary Holt to produce their record? Warbringer did, and the result is an expansive sophomore release that helps set them apart from the carbon-copy confines of their peers. They push boundaries with tighter guitar arrangements and complex song structures, while keeping their pummeling foundation intact. Just check out the wailing solo of "Jackal," the aggressive time changes in "Senseless Life" and the slower, all-instrumental departure of "Nightmare Anatomy."
