Get Right Back To My Baby
Label: Make Noise, LLC
"Some may say I'm underrated, but I say I'm blessed," Vivian Green sings as she gives thanks to God on "Count Your Blessings." The adult soul veteran has a smoldering mid-range voice with a slight rasp, and it burns brightly but never quite catches fire. Her music, at least on Vivid, has a similar impact. She knows how to hit the sweet spot, whether working a disco steppers' rhythm on "Work," "Get Right Back to My Baby" (which samples from Maze's "Before I Let Go") and "Leave It All Behind" or jumping amid the popcorn soul of "123."
