Nothing Stays The Same

What does it feel like to live inside a kaleidoscope? Traxman gives us a clue on Da Mind of Traxman Vol. 2, in which funk and soul samples are smashed to bits and looped into dizzying arrays. Chicago footwork was originally made for dance battles, but here it's abstracted and even contemplative: kick drums fall away, and the bass recedes to a distant rumble, leaving only the nervous hiccups of chopped-up voices and drums. The Kraftwerk-sampling "Computer Getto" nods to dance-music history, while "Bubbles" sounds like the future incarnate.
