Thin Lizzy's 1971 debut doesn't have too much of the fistfight-inspiring rock with which most people equate them, but it's a fairly remarkable record nonetheless. Phil Lynott's voice is muscular and poetic, sounding very assured. As a band, they create a mixture of folk and boogie rock that comes alive when Eric Bell rips out leads just begging to go on for 45 minutes.
