Scott's Tune (Unreleased Scott Gorham Composition)
Label: UMC (Universal Music Catalogue)
Because it came hot on the heels of the hit-stacked Jailbreak, the more complex Johnny the Fox was considered something of a letdown when released towards the end of 1976. In hindsight, however, it's one of Thin Lizzy's best: a glum collection of tunes Phil Lynott hammered-out while struggling to recover from hepatitis. The music also reflects his growing disillusionment with the 24-hour rock-and-roll party his life had become. On the opener, that rabble-rousing Johnny from "The Boys Are Back in Town" is now breaking into drug stores "to cure his daily need." Dark stuff for sure.
