The Teardrop Explodes
Released:
Label:
Virgin Emi
Julian Cope's psychedelic new wave band created some of the grooviest, most eccentric pop music of the 1980s. Cope may be into Pet Clark and Scott Walker as much as he is the Doors, but his goofy originality stops The Teardrop Explodes from ever sounding like a revival act. This collection is too short, but it still features essential numbers off their two proper studio albums (Kilimanjaro and Wilder) and throws in a couple of rarities. We're going for "Sleeping Gas" as their finest moment.
