Chicago's the Poison Arrows definitely have a little hometown love coursing through their mesh of post-rock, metal and electronic. They share traits with native experimental headbangers like Pelican and Russian Circles, and bassist Patrick Morris' grungy vocals even have a whiny hint of Billy Corgan in them. But they also integrate heady nuances of wavering electro bleeps, bee-buzzing drones and spacey star-gazing feedback in the vein of Battles and Mogwai. With oozy psych reverb and extended sax trills, "Frozen Human Satellite" excels in the group's effort to never leave the listener bored.
