Revolution Number Zero

Anton Newcombe adds more and more psychedelic drones to his winding, sardonic discography (which boasts titles like Their Satanic Majesties' Second Request and Smoking Acid), and this mini-album is no exception, with two bright and chiming versions of "Viholliseni Maala," plus the stunted garage anthem title track and the junkshop raga of "Don't Say a Thing." Newcombe mostly lets his compellingly messy array of instruments speak for him, his monotone buried beneath who knows how many guitars, autoharps and lagging tambourines mixed behind sharp-pointed drums. Lethargy at its most trippy.
