TEEN's kaleidoscopic synths and sugar-blasted melodies ("Tokyo," "Free Time") suggest a real love of Top 40 teen pop -- J- and K- varieties, as well as Ashlee and Demi ones. The Nova Scotia-born, Brooklyn-bred quartet weigh their giddy, twisty songs with '90s reminders: dense, shoegaze guitar, twinkling Madonna grooves, the gorgeous Eurythmics swirl of "Example," and the stately "Another Man's Woman." But the wordy, witty, love-crazy lyrics, stuffed syllable-by-syllable into every available melodic nook and cranny, are pure, gushing pop.
