You Mean That Much
Label: Atlantic Records
Tank's third album is another paean to bedroom adventures, but it rises and falls on his songwriting. "Celebration" and "Emergency" please, even though the latter is built on an outlandish premise, equating a woman's need for physical satisfaction with a medical emergency. His relentless focus on lovemaking undoes "Can I" and "Foreplay," which sound like repetitive trills and undulations and little else. Toward Now or Never's end, Tank quiets the sex talk in lieu of romantic devotionals "You Mean That Much" and the Bonnie Raitt cover "I Can't Make You Love Me."
