About Sue Garner and Rick Brown

With a recording career that links the two for the past 15 years, it is no surprise that Sue Garner and Rick Brown's newest release, Still, flows so easily and so mellifluously. The two have worked together under the art/noise/pop guise of RunOn since '95 and before that as Fish and Roses. Sue Garner released a solo album in '98 with help from husband Rick Brown, who had been focusing on his side project, Les Batteries. The two work with Sue Garner providing the voice, songs and arrangements as Rick Brown supplies percussion and minimal synth programming (working as an inverse of Yo La Tengo's Georgia Hubley and Ira Kaplan, to which they can be fairly compared). This newest recording gives ample space to both Garner's urgent folk-pop and Brown's strong post-Krautrock rhythms.
