Label: Squeaky Squawk
This is the weirdest of the SYR releases -- which is saying a lot. That's because, no matter how "experimental" the band's other under-the-radar releases might have been, the sounds being made were at least the main attraction. Here, the ambient scrape and drone was the aural accompaniment to a screening of silent films by avant-garde filmmaker Stan Brakhage. While excellent for that purpose -- you can find his films on DVD and play this music over it to see -- it's a bit less compelling on its own. But Kim's vocals on "Part II" are intriguing. And the finale has a suitably grand feel.
