Snoop and Pharrell spark a bromance with this modest ode to sun, sex and weed. Pharrell swathes the album in glossy melodies, from the light boogie house of "This City" to the P-funk trills of "So Many Pros." Snoop's voice is double-tracked until it oozes honeyed warmth as he lulls on "Awake": "My planet's Krypton/ Home of the freaks/ Come get your moon rocks/ I am a G." Meanwhile, backing vocalists like Pharrell, Uncle Charlie Wilson and Gwen Stefani buttress his amusingly one-note performance; and even Stevie Wonder turns up for "California Roll."
