There's No Going Back
Sick Puppies
Released:
Label:
Capitol Records (CAP)
As with Tri-Polar, its predecessor, Connect finds Sick Puppies cutting their post-grunge with touches of industrial, pop balladry, country, garage rock and even club music. Because of this, the record feels less like a cohesive album and more a loose collection of singles geared towards generating radio play from as many diverse markets as possible. Yet this also means there's a lot to explore, like the plucky banjo and acoustic guitar powering the title track, or the howling riff-rager "Gunfight," which offers the advice that one should never bring a knife to a gunfight because "YOU'LL LOSE!"
