Label: Nature Sounds
This 1967 set shows that R&B's gain was jazz's loss when Roy Ayers went soul in the '70s. Joining Ayers on this vital hard bop outing are Joe Henderson and Harold Land on tenor saxes, and George Tolliver on trumpet. Ayers, as usual, balances percussive soloing with an airier, more melodic style. Exciting, and one of Ayers all time best sets.
