All the Drugs
Label: Little Record Company
"All you can do is just watch me go," sings Jenny Lewis sweetly, kicking off this beloved L.A. pop crew's swan song, a collection of B-sides in name only. From their humble beginnings (dig debut single "The Frug") to the Barsuk/Saddle Creek catharsis years to the fizzy, R&B-flecked joys of their late stuff, this was one fantastic band: Lewis alluring and caustic ("Happy birthday/ You're halfway to 60"), co-leader Blake Sennett channeling Elliott Smith with wilder guitar solos. Too $hort drops by, inexplicably; "It'll Get You There" and "Runnin Around" will get you started. Don't sleep.
