Singer, songwriter and guitarist Stephen McBean has two personalities: burly rocker and pop tunesmith. The former finds its outlet via the mighty Black Mountain; the former, meanwhile, is responsible for the delicious and all-too-fuzzy indie pop of Pink Mountaintops. Outside Love, the group's third record, finds McBean and company crafting yet another fine collection of rippling dream pop and psychedelic folk-rock. The dude's moody vocals on the gospel-tinged "Vampire" are totally mesmerizing.
