Thirty Days In The Workhouse
Label: Yep Roc Records
Peter Case helped define 1980s power pop with the Plimsouls before becoming one of the leading lights in the alternative singer-songwriter and Americana roots music movement. This 2010 release finds Case bouncing back from emergency open-heart surgery with the kind of tough rock 'n' roll and gritty electric blues that informed the original 1960s British Invasion and American garage scenes. The band is made from punk-era royalty (including X drummer DJ Bonebrake), but things still sizzle when Case steps up to the mic with his trusty acoustic on the concluding "House Rent Party."
