The world's most famous Syrian wedding singer is back, again aided by Four Tet, and with Modeselektor, Legowelt, and Gilles Peterson along for the dabke disco ride. If restrained opener "Mawal Menzal" suggests a quiet tour, don't be fooled -- that intro gets quickly chucked aside in favor of club beats and synth twaddle. Keyboardist Rizan Said remains unstoppable, riding atop the onslaught and trading lines with both oud and Omar himself. The anguished "Darb El Hawa" and a burbling title cut remix provide changes of pace, but these beats never flag. Get your pan-cultural party started here.
