Like a Hurricane
Cobbling together material from recording sessions that occurred between 1974 and 1977, American Stars 'N Bars well illustrates the exploratory spirit of Young's music from that era. Highlighted by the blistering concert staple "Like a Hurricane" and the thoroughly creepifying "Will to Love," the album alternates between sedate country music and in-the-red Neil rock. You don't want to miss "Star of Bethlehem" or "Bite the Bullet," both which feature Young's trademark bump in totally different ways. American Stars 'N Bars proves that even his so-called throwaway albums are superb.
