In 2004, these brilliant rockers-in-fitted-sleeves dropped an innovative EP. Its eccentricity generated much attention, but this self-titled LP debut was still two years coming. While most artists' long to be unique, MM actually are, thanks to their synth-filled, jazz-touched experimental Brit rock played on their cache of '70s and '80s vintage instruments (Rhodes electric piano, keytar synth, etc.). The only song with pop potential here is the dramatic, '80s-styled tune "Typical." Mostly, this is art rock at its finest.
