About Make Believe
Anyone who swapped definitive 7-inches of mid-'90s post-hardcore will immediately recognize the voice of Cap'n Jazz frontman Tim Kinsella, who leads Make Believe. Kinsella started the group with guitarist Sam Zurick, bassist Bobby Burg and his brother, drummer/keyboardist Nate Kinsella. They were the touring outfit of another of Tim Kinsella's side projects, Joan of Arc, though eventually developed into a distinct entity with their noodling, polyrhythmic post-rock. The band issued a self-titled five-track EP and debut full length, Shock of Being, in 2005. Of Course followed in 2006, after which Kinsella took a break from the band for personal reasons. He returned to record 2008's Going to the Bone Church, which was issued on Chicago's Flameshovel Records.
