Lyrics Born hasn't thrown out the playbook for his second solo album, but he has made some needed tweaks. He's largely forsaken the denser, more quirky sample-based tracks of his first two albums for popping basslines and live drums. It makes for sunnier, fuller funk grooves that nicely complement his singsong, old-school flow. This is party rap for people with Ph.D.s, and ultimately refutes the notion that hip-hop can't be both intelligent and fun.
