La Hija, La Mamá
Label: UMLE - Fonovisa
After 50 years, Los Tigres del Norte have not run short on stories of immigrants, drug lords and barstool encounters. With 22 tracks, Realidades is an album made to listen to all night long. It includes corridos about boys, guns and gangs ("La Bala") and working-class despair ("Se Me Acabó el Tequila"); a gossipy song about a lesbian ("Era Diferente") and a bragging tale of a surprising threesome ("La Hija la Mama"). Meanwhile, "Me Siguen Llamando el Jefe," a follow-up to the emblematic anthem "Jefe de Jefes," finds the boss still going strong. The same is true of this great American band.
