EDM finally goes full-on prog: Knife Party's debut album opens with triumphant synth riffs, martial triplets and a ponderous spoken-word intro fit for Game of Thrones, and from a Sir Alec Guinness sound-alike at that. This is no concept album, though. In fact, it's all over the place, from '50s TV dialogue over white-knuckled terror-rave ("404") to Middle Eastern scales over high-energy electro-house. Balancing out the hard-edged festival jams, "Begin Again" aims for radio play, while "EDM Trend Machine" pokes fun at Disclosure and Martin Garrix.
