Let's Get Money
Label: Family Ties / Interscope
Atlanta rapper K Camp sparked his career with “Cut Her Off,” but he also alienated many with his cruel mockery of an ex-girlfriend. He probably won’t win those folks over with Only Way Is Up, but he deserves some credit for expanding his repertoire. For sure, there’s a lot of pseudo-harmonizing and simple party tunes like “Lil Bit.” But he also pays tribute to Dr. Dre’s “The Next Episode” on “Rolling” and bellows like a trap star on “Yellow Brick Road.” The album is bookended by two tracks, “Change” and “Control,” on which he raps earnestly and argues that his ascent isn’t over yet.
