Love Me Back
Label: J Records
In this day and age, Jazmine Sullivan's apparent penchant for high drama is incredibly refreshing. It's not that her fellow R&B singers are drama-free; it's just that their histrionics are so... contained. Love Me Back moves rather sweepingly across a varying landscape of production that ranges from the symphonic ("Redemption") to the girl-grouply ("Luv Back") to the downright Princely ("Good Enough"). Sullivan's raspy, rich voice, meanwhile, sounds unhinged, as though even if she were interested in Auto-Tuning it, her instrument could never be tamed by such robo-trickery.
