Label: Sargent House
From a curtain-of-guitar standpoint, this Seattle trio traffics in your usual introverted post-rock metalgaze: sometimes working up a head of steam ("Animatronic Bionic"), but more often just sleepy. There's as much Slint or Mogwai in their atmospherics as, say, Isis or Pelican, whose album guitarist Ben Verellen once guested on. And even more than in the case of the fairly like-minded Deafheaven, vocals tend toward straight-up emo or, in the case of bassist Dana James, '90s college rock. "Heavy Worm Burden" even has her slipping into a Kim Gordon-type recitation about queens and dreams.
