For longtime fans of the Arkansas-born, Olympia-bred band's gutter-punk blues, the Gossip's third album might sound at first like an unwieldy and even disappointing foray into a minimalist dance music craze that just won't die. But Beth Ditto sings hipster disco like a cat (in an asymmetrical shirt) on a hot tin roof, squalling at the moon - and, on the title track, at this country's predilection for bigoted anti-gay marriage legislation -- with her moonshine-and-grits vocals over new drummer Hannah Blilie's air-tight, four-on-the-floor beat.
