Label: col legno
The composer's vocals -- built from precision-murmurs, experimental lullaby tones and the odd finger-in-and-out-of-mouth pop -- are the first thing you'll notice on the opener, "Mouthpiece IX part 1." But don't forget to listen to her dramatic writing for the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra players (which also carries over into the second track). Flute, percussion, bass and viola support Gee's voice on the buoyant "Mouthpiece - Segment of the 3rd Letter." Overall, the album wears its adventurous vibe casually; there's nothing harsh about this music. Call it an inviting avant-garde triumph.
