This sh*t Pound
Label: Heavy On The Grind
If you’re wondering where to dive in to this two-hour-plus party, here’s a hint: Skip Function Music. E-40 and Too Short churn out replicas of 40 Water’s “Function” hit, and the results vary from serious blappers (“Say I”) to moronic and, in the case of Suga Free’s slap-a-b*tch track “One Foot,” patently offensive songs. The second half, Mob Music, has a fuller, more developed funk sound without sacrificing the minimalist rhythms so popular in the Bay, and its best moments, like “We Are Pioneers,” “I Don’t Work for Nobody” and “Pancherellos,” aren’t just copies of the same song.
