Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc.
Label: Warner Bros.
Regularly playing punk rock clubs with the likes of X, Los Lobos and The Blasters, Dwight Yoakam proved himself to be a truly distinct talent when this debut was released in 1986. Accepted by rock, punk and country audiences, the album shot to No. 1. Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc. was initially put out as an EP, by Yoakam himself, with Reprise adding several tracks when they signed him and put this form of the record on the shelves. The opening cover of "Honky Tonk Man" and closer "Heartaches by the Number" say it all -- the ancient moves of country music sound new in Yoakam's hands.
