About Duff McKagan
In approximate order from most to least famous, here are some of the L.A. and Seattle hard rock and punk bands in which Duff McKagen has played (mostly bass, occasionally drums, guitar and voice) since being born in 1964: Guns N' Roses (for whom he was half of one of rock's most propulsive rhythm sections of recent decades), Jane's Addiction (for a few months in 2010), Velvet Revolver, Slash's Snakepit, the Fastbacks, the Fartz, Neurotic Outsiders (with Sex Pistols and Duran Duran guys), Duff McKagen's Loaded, 10 Minute Warning, the Vains, Mad For Racket (with MC5 and Damned guys), the Living (with a future Mother Love Bone guy). He has also weathered unfortunate drug and pancreatic conditions, portrayed a vampire on sci-fi TV series Sliders, and written regular columns for the websites of Seattle Weekly and Playboy. He's contributed to ESPN.com as well. And after earning a finance degree from Seattle University, he started up a company called Meridian Rock, with the goal of helping rock stars manage their wealth portfolios. A true renaissance man!
