I'll Be There

The oddest 1960s pop sex kitten around, Claudine Longet was a beauty with off-center eyes and the kind of heavily accented English that turns Julie London's "Cry Me a River" into "Kah-why Me a Wiver." The unfortunate part is that Longet sounds great when she's purring in French (check out her bilingual version of "Close to You" to contrast her comfort zone singing in the two languages). Her awkward cover versions make her stuff of ironic interest now, but the lesser-known songs usually come of 11better.
