Can You Feel the Love Tonight?
Label: Disney Pearl
The Beach Boys paid tribute to Disney all the way back in 1971 with "Disney Girls (1957)." Interestingly enough, it was Bruce Johnston, and not Brian Wilson, who penned that wonderfully corny ballad. Unfortunately, there's nothing on In The Key Of Disney that's quite as memorable. The iconic pop auteur's selections span time, everything from Toy Story's "You've Got a Friend in Me" to Pinocchio's "When You Wish Upon a Star," a pop standard if there ever was one. The end result sounds more or less like an oldies tribute band: sweet harmonies, lots of horns and Phil Spector-inspired shuffles.
