Boozoo Bajou made their name as aspirants to Jazzanova and Kruder & Dorfmeister's thoroughly horizontal thrones, but they never quite broke out of the camp of downtempo's earnest also-rans. Their response, like that of many before them, is to tack towards the world of "real bands," with more live instruments and room tone animating their slow-moving lounge dub. For once, it works; the acoustic instruments and lo-fi takes lend a blurry warmth, a kind of ambient supersaturation that suits their mood-piece compositions. While comfortable in its genre, the album hints at something more.
