For his sophomore LP, Ben Sidran was joined by his colleague Steve Miller, the funk specialist Phil Upchurch, and serious jazzers like Tony Williams and Bill Perkins. Instead of bombarding us with all that firepower, Sidran wisely concentrates on alternating his upbeat keyboard tunes with witty, hipster vocal cuts. Sidran recalls Mose Allison while foreshadowing Michael Franks.
