The Things We Do To Find People Who Feel Like Us
Label: Polyvinyl Records
On their debut album, these howling Philly punks -- including frontman James Snyder, veteran of scene luminaries Weston -- offer up a brief, 10-track blast of hissing, feedback-drenched noise-pop. Disaffected, bare-hearted lyrics about small-town ennui and creative liberation, honoring the punk sacraments of "Bad Art & Weirdo Ideas," sink happily into roiling seas of guitar. Halfway through the album, token alt-rock ballad "Too Late To Die Young" strips the band's simple attack down to guitar-strings-piano to eulogize "the damaged and f*cked." Familiar but lovable, if you feel like them.
