The Baltimore dream-pop duo continues to explore the landscape they've sculpted over five albums from pillowy synths, sweetly arpeggiating guitar and Victoria Legrand's airy vocals. The sound is a comforting cocoon, but the occasionally ambient Depression Cherry's best songs are still its most driven, as gentle as those drivers may be: A spiraling riff provides ballast for "Sparks"' gossamer melody while the eerie "Bluebird" has glassy guitars that are harnessed to an insistent, metronomic click.
