Forget what a trio of self-styled "Mafiosi" has led you to believe about Swedish house music. Since 2008, Axel Boman has been offering an artisanal alternative to the H&M of EDM, smearing samples of disco (and ABBA) over wobbly deep-house beats. For his debut album, he actually dials things down a notch, slowing the tempo, dropping the volume, and luxuriating in vinyl hiss and dubby psychedelia. The twitchy "Barcelona" offers a homespun take on '90s R&B; "Fantastic Piano" is as cozy as a night on the sofa watching a Peanuts holiday special.
