The Order of Things
Label: Razor & Tie
These high-charting Massachusetts metalcore brutes include a song titled "Tru-Kvlt-Metal," whose drill-sergeant commands to "follow the crowd!" suggest a defensiveness against those who'd disparage the band's burgeoning emo tendencies. They open with the breakup lament "This Probably Won't End Well," toast Grandpa's work ethic in "The Greatest Generation" and end with a would-be epic called "Criticism and Self Realization" complete with Elton-via-Axl piano coda. Occasional angry yelling and rat-a-tatting between surely count as metal, if not necessarily the "tru-kvlt" kind.
