Two Decades of Tricky

About this playlist

Tricky has been beguiling and confounding alt-rock and downbeat rap audiences alike for over two decades now, and many of his good, strange records don't receive the attention they deserve. Besides proven classics like his turn on Massive Attack's "Karmacoma" and his own "Aftermath," he's manufactured gorgeous bent reggae on "Diss Never (Dig Up We History)," psychedelic blues-rock on "Puppy Toy" and "Singing the Blues," and synth-pop on "We Don't Die." He's a master of collaboration, turning PJ Harvey, Live, Red Hot Chili Peppers and samples from familiar Eurythmics and Peter Gabriel hits inside-out for his lush, broken junk sculptures.
