Sure, the end of summer means the annual Warped Tour has closed up shop for another year, but there are still plenty of releases this month that can keep the pit party going well into autumn. For starters, The Offspring's groundbreaking album Smash turns 20, an anniversary Epitaph Records commemorates with a reissue — as if you really needed an excuse to spin “Come Out and Play.”
In the new-album department, ‘80s-leaning alt emo quartet Anberlin takes a bow with Lowborn, the band’s final album before breaking up. Elsewhere, The Gaslight Anthem continue their string of blue-collar punk greatness with Get Hurt; UKers Twin Atlantic turn in a set of stadium-sized rock on [Great Divide]; The Interrupters charm with punk snarl on a self-titled set; and stoner-rock band He Is Legend returns with Heavy Fruit after five years away. Whatever catches your ear this month, make sure to listen to it loudly.
